About Us
The VIC has awarded college scholarships, paired scholarship awardees with industry mentors and facilitated job placement for VIC students and graduates since 1991. Strong support from the local hospitality, tourism and travel industry and our valuable partnerships with Miami-Dade County Public Schools Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT), Florida International University, Johnson & Wales University and Miami Dade College has enabled the VIC to award 174 scholarships to students aspiring careers in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, and Culinary Arts. Financial support has totaled more than $2.5 million to African Americans students and students of African descents from throughout the Caribbean and Diaspora. Furthermore, VIC has been able to facilitate internships, on-the-job management training, job placement and career advancement for VIC graduates and students in the visitor industry, with more than half in management or management-track positions, through the efforts of the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association.
